Job Description

About The Role

This isn’t a compliance role - it’s a leadership seat for someone who thinks like a business partner, coaches like a performance psychologist, and builds like a seasoned operator.

Your mission: make Mosaic a place where exceptional people do their best, most meaningful work—together.

We rally around a shared purpose: serving entrepreneurial families who shape the communities where we live, learn, nourish, worship, heal, and work. We're building an environment that is:

· Intellectually rigorous – grounded in sharp thinking and high standards

· Relationally rewarding – fueled by trust, humility, and shared purpose

· Financially rewarding – aligned incentives that reflect real impact

You’ll lead the design and rhythm of Mosaic’s people and culture strategy—shaping talent plans, coaching leaders, and building systems that scale with us.

Your goal: help us stay rigorous, human, and mission-aligned as we both grow and scale.

Ask yourself:

· Do you build strong, trusted relationships—with both the business and the team?

· Do you shape talent, org, and leadership strategies that fuel long-term success?

· Do you bring empathy and clarity to tough conversations—and help others do the same?

If so, our Head of People & Culture role may be for you.

Company

As a boutique advisory firm, Mosaic’s 26 team members serve a handful of entrepreneurial families with significant illiquid holdings such as operating companies and real estate portfolios.

Unlike most professional advisors, we don’t charge hourly, manage money for a fee, sell insurance products, draft legal documents, or prepare tax returns. Instead, Mosaic was built on a unique business model – to provide unbiased, comprehensive advice in exchange for a flat quarterly retainer.

By completely aligning our financial incentives with our client’s interests, we neutralize professional egos, eliminate conflicts of interest, and remain agnostic as to the makeup of our client's outside advisory team. As a result, we don’t compete with other advisors—we complement them.

Location

We believe the serendipity that comes from the entire team working together in the same space can’t be replicated online. Because of this, we collaborate in the office every day. While remote or hybrid positions aren’t offered, flexibility is available as needed.

Core Responsibilities

Talent Strategy & Leadership Development:

You’ll shape the systems and coaching that grow leaders and scale talent.

You will:

  • Design Mosaic’s long-term talent blueprint—defining the people, skills, and structure we need to scale
  • Lead succession planning and internal mobility for key roles and emerging leaders
  • Coach department heads to lead with clarity, candor, and empathy
  • Build structured development paths, mentoring programs, and learning frameworks
  • Champion a culture of growth, feedback, and forward motion

Workforce Planning & Organizational Design

You’ll ensure Mosaic’s team structure scales in step with our strategy.

You will:

  • Align org design with business goals through thoughtful structure and cross-functional collaboration
  • Lead capacity planning, headcount forecasting, and dynamic staffing strategies
  • Use people data and performance insights to guide team development and decision-making
  • Identify skill and capability gaps—and close them through hiring, development, or restructuring

Culture & Employee Experience

You’ll protect and evolve the culture that makes Mosaic feel like Mosaic.

You will:

  • Serve as the steward of Mosaic’s values and team norms
  • Design and manage the full employee experience—from recruiting to offboarding—so every touchpoint reflects who we are
  • Monitor employee sentiment and engagement, acting early when things drift
  • Design and deploy pulse surveys to surface insights and guide improvements
  • Be a confidential sounding board for team members and a truth-teller for leadership
  • Anticipate friction and “see around corners” to prevent misalignment and drift

Goal Setting & Accountability

You’ll help the team stay focused, aligned, and accountable to what matters most.

You will:

  • Facilitate clear, measurable goal-setting at the individual, department, and firm level
  • Serve as an accountability partner—supporting execution, unblocking challenges, and course-correcting when needed
  • Build simple, effective systems that drive ownership without adding red tape
  • Oversee professional development milestones, including successful completion of industry exams and certifications

Operational Support & Project Ownership

You’ll build the systems and rhythms that help the team stay aligned, accountable, and high-performing.

You will:

  • Design and manage annual cycles for benefits, compensation reviews, and engagement surveys
  • Develop and maintain key frameworks:
  • Career maps
  • Accountability and org charts
  • Role clarity documents
  • Use tools like Clockify to improve time allocation and team efficiency
  • Track and manage operational KPIs to drive clarity and execution
  • Lead process design and cross-functional HR initiatives

You’ll regularly lead:

  • Monthly individual check-ins
  • Monthly department reviews
  • Quarterly department goal reviews
  • Annual goal-setting across the firm, departments, and individuals

You’ll regularly contribute to:

  • Weekly departmental W.I.P. meetings
  • Quarterly strategic planning sessions with firm leadership

What Success Looks Like

Helping us scale without losing what makes Mosaic special.

  • You’ll focus on:
  • Elevating employee engagement
  • Reinforcing accountability through clear, measurable goals
  • Driving operational clarity and team efficiency
  • You’ll know it’s working when:
  • Every team and individual has aligned, actionable goals
  • High performers stay—and grow
  • Leadership depth and succession plans are in place
  • Engagement and trust scores remain high
  • Hiring and onboarding consistently attract and activate top talent
  • Our culture remains cohesive, human, and high-performing—even as we grow
  • The team feels both challenged and connected—through thoughtful rhythms, firm outings, happy hours, and shared laughter
  • Mosaic is far from stuffy. We work hard, we laugh often, and we lead with humility. You’ll help us protect and evolve that culture as we scale.

Where You’ll Sit

  • This role reports directly to the COO
  • You will collaborate closely with department heads across Planning, Investments, Family Operations, and Firm Operations
  • You’ll lead HR initiatives directly and be supported by the Firm Operations Manager for execution and systems
  • We use Rippling as our People Management Tool, with opportunities to expand our HR tech stack as needed

Why Join Mosaic

  • We limit the number of new clients we accept so we can deliver extraordinary service.
  • We believe in doing a few things with excellence—not everything for everyone.
  • We are committed to building a firm where high standards and high trust go hand in hand.
  • You’ll be part of shaping not just how we work—but who we are becoming.

Candidate

Being smart, hardworking, and honest are the minimum requirements. To thrive at Mosaic, you bring something more—intangible qualities that shape how you work and how you lead.

You might be a fit if:

  • You’re obnoxiously curious and relentlessly resourceful
  • You build structure instead of waiting for it
  • You think in systems, speak in plain English, and act with empathy
  • You’re a coach, builder, planner, and pattern-spotter
  • You’ve thrived in fast-paced, high-trust, entrepreneurial environments
  • You can hold space for both business logic and human emotion—and help others do the same
  • You hold high standards, help others rise to them, and don’t shy away from honest conversations
  • You G.A.S. (Give A $#!%) about the mission and the people

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years in strategic HR, talent management, human capital, or people operations roles
  • Preferred qualifications include SHRM, PHR, or SPHR certification with demonstrated experience implementing HR best practices
  • Exposure to founder-led businesses or high-growth entrepreneurial teams
  • Familiarity with OKR goal setting, KPI dashboards, performance frameworks, leadership development tools, and org design
  • Thrive in office-based work environments, working alongside close-knit teams

COMPENSATION & Benefits

This role is eligible for a compensation package that includes:

  • Base salary plus year-end bonus based on personal contribution and firm profitability.
  • Base Salary: Starting at $100,000
  • Annual Bonus: Up to 20.0% of salary
  • Total Annual Compensation Potential: $120,000 +
  • 401(k) with 6.0% company match
  • Health, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO), including vacation, sick leave, and 12 holidays

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and why you’re interested in this role to jobs@mosaicadvisors.com.

Our process typically includes a ~30-minute introductory screening call, a structured conversation with leadership, a free-flowing conversation with department leads, and a final session focused on values, alignment, and strategic thinking.

If you're ready to help exceptional people do their best work—and build the systems that make it possible—let’s talk.
