Job Description

BAR Interiors is seeking a talented and passionate Interior Designer with hospitality and custom homes experience to join our team as we get started on a luxury high-rise residential project. Additional project opportunities will include a combination of hospitality, high-end custom homes, and urban multifamily projects. The scope of opportunities will range from brand positioning/concept through CA phases and from contributing original design solutions to taking direction from Senior Designers and our Interior Design Studio Director.

At BAR we design unique, concept/visioning influenced interior experiences for exciting projects of all scales. Our ideal candidate will have both interior architecture and FF+E experience and be driven to produce creative design solutions at the macro and micro-levels of projects. Believing in the vital nature of in-person collaboration, we will not consider candidates seeking full-time, remote positions. This position is based in our San Francisco office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience
  • Proven ability to design, document and execute high level design projects, both in collaboration with and independent of an architecture studio
  • Understanding of the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and applying advanced design and technical methods, with responsibility for project assignments including brand positioning, programming, design development, production and coordination through construction documents and construction administration
  • Strong competency in interior design specifications and industry standards, and familiarity with accessibility codes a plus
  • Able to work easily independently and alongside team to meet budget and schedule
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to acquire and share knowledge
  • Strong interest in educating and mentoring younger team members
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills
  • Proficiency with Sketch-up, Adobe CS, AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office Suite; Lumion is a plus
  • StudioDesigner/SpecSources/any other purchasing software is a plus
  • Sustainability accreditation highly desired
  • A professional degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related discipline

At BAR Architects & Interiors our diverse practice has always had a singular focus — to create places that inspire and that stand the test of time while meeting each of our client’s specific needs in unique ways. A 75+ person architecture, interiors and planning firm with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, we work across California and the world. Our studio environment combined with large firm resources fosters collaboration and encourages creative thinking while our size and diversity of practice offers broad opportunities for mentoring and professional development.

We are committed to the well-being of our employees and observe a 9/80 schedule plus a hybrid of in-office and remote work. We value our time spent working together in person on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays can be worked remotely, though not all of us choose to do so. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance, commuter benefits, short- and long-term disability, long-term care, 401k & Profit Sharing, free financial advisory services, continuing education opportunities and support for interior design certifications and sustainability accreditations.

At the time of posting this job advertisement, the salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $95,000.00, commensurate with qualifications, and the position is eligible for an annual bonus. If you are hired at BAR, your anticipated annual salary is based on but not limited to factors such as skills, education, certification credentials if applicable, experience and/or project complexity, and geographic location. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team as part of arriving at any final offer.

Interested applicants should send a compelling letter of interest, resume, project samples and references to hr@bararch.com with subject line indicating: Interior Designer. We look forward to hearing from you and exploring how your passion for design and your skills, experience and interests align with opportunities at BAR. BAR is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to welcoming and supporting a diverse community of professionals.
