Opportunity Overview:

This client is actively seeking a seasoned Engineering Director to join their Community Infrastructure group. This senior leadership role focuses on expanding commercial development services nationally. The successful candidate will bring a strong record of delivering civil engineering projects, particularly within the private commercial sector, and possess the strategic mindset needed to drive business growth and client engagement.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as a trusted leader and technical expert within the community infrastructure group, providing high-level oversight on design, permitting, and project delivery
• Play a pivotal role in client relationship management and business strategy, identifying opportunities to expand commercial services and building key partnerships
• Direct and mentor a team of engineers and project managers, ensuring project execution meets quality, schedule, and financial targets
• Contribute to the long-term growth of the practice through thought leadership, cross-discipline collaboration, and continuous improvement efforts
• Maintain close involvement in proposal development, contract negotiation, and project planning

Key Qualifications:

• More than 15 years of hands-on experience managing civil engineering projects for commercial developments
• Proven success working with private-sector clients across multiple states
• Experience navigating permitting and regulatory processes; familiarity with scope management and design oversight
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
• Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to coach teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Technical & Strategic Leadership:

• Regularly consults on large-scale or specialized projects, offering creative and pragmatic solutions
• Understands how to align engineering practices with sustainable and system-wide performance goals
• Develops strategies to mitigate risks and keep complex projects on track
• Guides strategic staff development initiatives to build expertise across the team
