Job Description

Position Overview:

HopeBUILDERS Home Repair is seeking a dedicated and organized individual for a full-time position focusing on volunteer coordination and marketing management. This role is essential in supporting our mission to provide critical home repairs and accessibility modifications for older adults and people with disabilities in the greater Kansas City area. The Volunteer and Marketing Manager focuses on two key aspects of our program: oversight of our volunteer program including recruitment and onboarding, training, placement, engagement, retention, and recognition and managing our multi-media brand and story. 

Key Responsibilities:

VOLUNTEER COORDINATION (50%)

Volunteer Recruitment and Management:

  • Manage all communications with volunteers

    • Includes managing information like availability, skillset, hours worked, and impact measured. 

  • Manage volunteer experience, including:

    • Being on site for Saturday Ramp Builds (2x per month, usually on Saturday.  You can flex time during the week.)

    • Working with project leads at the volunteer experience

    • Managing volunteer check-in, name tags and waiver forms

    • Confirming van driver for weekend ramp builds

    • Arranging lunch for ramp builds

  • Improve volunteer recruitment processes and experience to increase the volunteer base and effectively utilize volunteers.

  • Organize volunteer recognition events in collaboration with the Executive Director.

  • Oversee the volunteer@HopeBUILDERS email and external opportunity postings (e.g., Volunteer Match, United Way, AARP)

Marketing (50%)

  • Manage social media posts, email, media and website according to annual marketing plan.  This includes:

    • Gathering client and volunteer stories

    • Creating storytelling imagery and posts

    • Telling our story to, and engaging with, local media

    • Managing marketing collateral

    • Tracking data and reporting that data to the team

  • Grow and develop, where needed, corporate and group sponsorship programs

  • Provide information about HopeBUILDERS mission and programs through speaking engagements and outreach events

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years experience as a volunteer manager
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and inspire a diverse group of people. 
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Creative storyteller and content developer with excellent written and oral presentation skills, and the ability to analyze data and results

  • Proficiency in using website platforms, point-of-sale software, marketing automation platforms, graphic design software (Canva, InDesign) and CRM donor database

  • Effective and timely response to communications from internal and external sources

  • Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license for local travel (Kansas City Metropolitan area)

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continual basis

  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such

  • Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines 

  • Flair for cultivating and stewarding professional relationships with a diverse constituency

  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Responsibilities of the position include travel to communities all over the greater Kansas City Area for the purpose of recruiting and training volunteers, outreach, and to share our mission.  The role will also actively participate in in-person team meetings, strategic planning efforts, board, and other committee meetings. The salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 and commensuratewith experience.
