Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced Data Product Owner who thrives at the intersection of strategy, technology, and analytics. In this role, you’ll help shape and guide the development of a modern enterprise data platform by aligning cross-functional business needs with data engineering and analytics initiatives. You'll serve as the critical link between internal teams and technical developers, ensuring data capabilities meet evolving business demands.

As part of the Data & Insights group, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across digital, product, and business units to define and prioritize enhancements to our client's enterprise data infrastructure. You’ll own the backlog, drive sprint planning, and make sure the team delivers high-impact data products that are scalable, reliable, and meaningful to users.

• Act as the key liaison between data engineering teams and business stakeholders, converting business needs into clear technical requirements.
• Help define the vision for enterprise data tools and services that support reporting, analytics, and downstream application use.
• Develop and manage a detailed product backlog focused on improving data ingestion, modeling, integration, and access.
• Translate complex goals (like onboarding new data sources or refining shared data assets) into actionable stories and development tasks.
• Drive sprint planning and prioritization based on business value, technical complexity, and organizational objectives.
• Ensure alignment across teams by organizing regular backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and stakeholder check-ins.
• Collaborate with solution architects to help design high-performing, well-governed data pipelines and structures.
• Keep communication open between engineering, analytics, and business teams—ensuring everyone stays informed and aligned.
• Manage go-to-market readiness, including stakeholder sign-off, documentation, release timing, and communications.
• Work in tandem with other product owners to identify dependencies and streamline cross-functional delivery.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Solid understanding of agile product management, especially in the context of data platforms and analytics tools.
• Ability to translate business processes and needs into technical specifications and user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
• Familiarity with modern cloud data architectures—especially Azure, Data Lake, Synapse, and/or Databricks.
• Proficiency in SQL for validating data and supporting testing/UAT processes.
• Effective communicator who can explain technical concepts in business terms and vice versa.
• Strong organizational skills, with a knack for balancing priorities and managing multiple workstreams.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to solving problems and delivering value.
• Collaborative and empathetic—great at building relationships across technical and non-technical teams.

What you need to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, or related field—or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role with a focus on data platforms or data products.
• Prior experience supporting agile delivery of data products, pipelines, and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Familiar with collaboration and project tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Confluence.
