Job Description

Dollar General is on the hunt for a Utility Coordinator who will be responsible for Research, disputes and negotiates electric, gas and water/sewer utility exception accounts, as well as the disconnection of utilities in closing or relocating stores. Serves as liaison for field personnel regarding all service connection issues. Conducts fact-finding and analysis and problem-resolution by using all available resources and tools including Internet websites, spreadsheet software and other on-line computer systems for existing stores in assigned area

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Resolves utility billing issues, typically identified through external audits, with local utility companies, field management and store merchandisers to ensure all utility accounts are maintained properly. Investigates issues and recommends or performs tasks needed for resolution.
  • Works with utility companies to ensure that all dead lease store utilities are disconnected and removed with expiration of the lease.
  • Maintains various spreadsheets and tracks all state-required testing related to backflow devices, water sampling testing, permits, etc. Responsible for processing store utility correspondence related to electric, gas and water/sewer utilities from the city/county to ensure no interruptions to the store’s services.
  • Establishes electric, gas and water/sewer services for all new and relocating stores. Ensures operation prior to fixture data by contacting utility companies or designated utility representative to confirm that all contract information and deposit requirements are met and service is initiated in a timely manner. Supports other utility coordinators in their assigned areas.

  • Excellent accounting skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and advanced office skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, often with conflicting time constraints.

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • High school or equivalent education and three years' experience is required.
  • Previous experience in the energy field preferred.
